We knew at some point the Giants would lose as many games as they did last year. Loss No. 55 would probably come weeks before the end of the season—maybe even a month. Instead, it came two months before. And what a time it was.

The Giants were swept at home by the Dodgers in a four-game series for the first time in 45 years. Their 11 straight NL West losses are the most in franchise history.

They are 3-12 since the All-Star break—with an emphasis on that last word. They are very much broken. Winter is coming.
