Put another way, Keaton Winn's last two starts have been everything the Giants thought they were getting from Blake Snell. But right now Snell is the worst pitcher in the Giants rotation, something both wonderful and frightening.

Winn's short run of success is the kind that make you question best laid plans. With Alex Cobb and Robbie Ray due to return later this season, who knows who they'll replace?

In March it would have been Winn and Jordan Hicks. Now those guys look like playoff-caliber starters.
