I wanted to believe this year would be different than last.
Even without Aaron Judge or Carlos Correa, I wanted to believe the formula of this remade roster would spit out different results than the last one.
Then I showed up to Yankee Stadium on a chilly Thursday afternoon.
Sixteen Giants struck out. Judge homered almost immediately. Logan Webb faired well enough—John Brebbia and Tyler Rogers did not.
Add it all up and the 5-0 loss on Opening Day felt as listless as the 81 we saw last year. Only 161 games left to see what's different about this team.
Next up: Giants at Yankees, tomorrow at 1:05 PT. Alex Cobb faces Clarke Schmidt.
