Despite their best efforts to avoid this outcome, the Giants took the series from the Red Sox.

It required two walk-off hits and, apparently, pure ineptitude with runners on base. Across both wins the Giants went 5 for 31 with runners in scoring position.

How great it is to have so many opportunities. And how crushing it is to waste them again and again.

I'm wondering if this stretch will meaningfully affect how the front office approaches Tuesday's trade deadline. I don't think of the Giants as very reactionary with their roster moves.

Then Marco Luciano showed up.

Is Justin Verlander next? Ha.
