Trading Miguel Cabrera for Tim Lincecum | Giants 5, Nationals 2
Remembering a deal that never came to be—and wondering what could have been.
The Giants beat the Nationals on Saturday afternoon, 5-2. But the day will be remembered for Miguel Cabrera reaching 3,000 hits.
Where's the Giants tie, you ask? They were reportedly in the mix for Cabrera when the Marlins traded him in 2007. Florida wanted a package centered around Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum.
Here we are 15 years later, the Giants having won three titles and the Tigers none. (And we know what happened in 2012.) But what if the Giants traded Lincecum for Cabrera? Would you trade the Cy Youngs for MVPs? It pains me, but, I would.
