If only for one afternoon, the 2021 season somehow resumed on Friday. There were moments of brilliance, primarily from Logan Webb. But also from Joey Bart, who belted his first career home run, and Thairo Estrada, who ruined the game and saved it minutes later, and Austin Slater, who went home the hero. Then there were moments of patented torture. Camilo Doval imploded, and Mauricio Dubón forgot how to run the bases. Again. All of it rolled up into a 6-5 win on Opening Day, which didn’t begin a new season so much as it continued the previous one.
