The shortstop of tomorrow is Marco Luciano. The shortstop of today is Brett Wisely.
Will these statements read the same in September? Or even next week? I don't know.
What I do know is that as recently as a week ago, Brett Wisely was just another one of Farhan's Soldiers: Acquired from the Rays in a fringe trade. Plays different positions. Bats lefty.
Now he's the main character in a week that could be an inflection point in the Giants season. He's going on four straight multi-hit games, including two on Monday that drove in runs.
He's not supposed to be doing what he's doing. It might not last another day. It might not stop at all. That's the beauty of it.
The Postcard Not Written: Blake Snell, yeesh. He’s yet to complete five innings.
Up next: Forever (San Jose) Giant Zack Wheeler (6-3, 2.53 ERA) takes the mound at Oracle Park, where he’s 1-3 with a 3.80 ERA since being traded 13 (!) years ago.
