Baseball has a way of evening itself out
The Giants went a week without homering. They hit five on Saturday.
The Giants went 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position on Friday. On Saturday they tallied three hits in those situations and knocked in five runs.
Logan Webb received the worst run support in baseball last year. The Giants scored as many runs Saturday as they did in Webb’s first three starts combined.
While Saturday’s great evening out benefited the Giants, they’d be better served to avoid these outbursts. It’s a recipe to lose two-thirds of every series, to lose two-thirds of 162. They need to find their rhythm, and after only 15 games, perhaps they will soon.
We'll see which way the see-saw tilts in a few hours.
Up next: Blake Snell (0-1, 9.00 ERA) makes his second start for the Giants and his second-ever against his former team, the Rays. He’ll match up with Shawn Armstrong (0-1, 5.68 ERA), a righty who’s bounced around the bigs since 2015. Get ready for morning baseball, first pitch at 10:40 a.m.
