We're 12 games into the season and no, it's not just you that's exhausted. The Giants have played one close game after another, Wednesday afternoon included. Mike Yastrzemski capped a five-run comeback with a walk-off into San Francisco Bay.
It's already the Giants’ third walk-off, plus a road comeback with two outs in the ninth. Here's some comfort food for the off day.
Let's rank the best landing spots for home runs in baseball, excluding Splash Hits:
5- Chase Field, into the pool: The whole thing is a little overrated and looks outdated. Still, you need impressive aim to splash one down.
4- Busch Stadium, into Big Mac Land: It might only be a section of seats but the name is iconic and ties back to an iconic player. Bonus points for the vibrant neon sign.
3- Wrigley Field, into the basket: Barely a home run is still a home run. Better yet, it lands where everyone can see it, mocking the other team from its final resting place.
2- PNC Park, into the Allegheny River: The truest rival to the Splash Hit, but much harder to reach. The Allegheny is at least 456 feet from home and only six balls have reached the water on the fly in 24 years.
1- Fenway Park, over the monster: Hitting a ball out of the stadium is always cool, even more so when you clear the iconic 37-foot-high wall and bomb one down onto Lansdowne Street.
Up next: The Giants head to New York to greet me and hoard of chilly baseball fans. It’ll be Robbie Ray (2-0, 3.18 ERA) against Marcus Stroman (0-0, 7.27 ERA) at 4:05 pm on Friday.
No love for the sting ray touch tank at the soon-to-be defunct Tropicana Field?
