🎧 Podcast: Kerry and I go long on everything that’s gone wrong.
When Aaron Judge struck out looking to cement the Giants' one-run win, I let out a heavy sigh. I looked over to my friend and said: That was intense. He's their Jung Hoo Lee.
Since I wrote those words on April 13, here's a look at two anonymous players:
Player A: .217 average, .613 OPS, 3 home runs, 23 RBI
Player B: .358 average, 1.179 OPS, 24 home runs, 47 RBI
One of them is Aaron Judge, the other is Jung Hoo Lee. Good luck figuring out who's who.
Earlier on Wednesday I shared with Kerry how concerned I was about Lee, with a weak swing and even weaker contact. He's been in a slump for two months, but if only for a day he reminded everyone of what he has to offer. He went 3-for-4, needing only a home run for the cycle, and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th.
Lee might not be Judge—he might not be half the player Aaron Judge is—but on Thursday night he was everything the Giants needed.
Up next: The Giants send Robbie Ray (8-3, 2.75 ERA) to the mound, going for a much-needed series split. Brandon Pfaadt (8-5, 5.38 ERA) will stand on the other side. First pitch at 6:40 pm.
Thanks for the Giants postcards. They read from Germany as well.
