The game changed on a bobble.

Down to the Giants’ last strike, Luis Matos swatted a ball into left. Bryan Reynolds reached down to grab it, only to have it squirt out of his glove for a moment. That was all Matos needed. He tore around first and dove head-first into second.

Three pitches later he scored the tying run, and an inning later the Giants celebrated the win of the year. Twenty-four hours after the loss of the year.

Up next: It’s Paul Skenes Day. The rookie phenom (1-0, 2.70 ERA) is the Pirates’ Tim Lincecum, and then some. We’ll see how he does against a team one game out of a playoff spot in May.
