Oof.
How else to describe going 1-5 against the Marlins and White Sox? How else to describe falling 7.5 games back in the NL West after sitting in first two weeks ago? How else to answer when someone in your life asks, So, how are the Giants?
We reached the halfway point of the season a few days ago. With a 45-39 record, the Giants are definitely still in it. But have they ever felt more out of it?
The offense can't score. The bullpen can’t hold every one-run lead. And the biggest moment of each game turns into a daily kick in the nuts.
Since tying for the NL West lead earlier this month, the Giants are 4-10. They're hitting .213 over that stretch—and even worse with runners in scoring position (.163).
I'm not shouting from the street corner that heads need to roll or trades need to happen. But if the Giants are going to make the playoffs, doesn't this have to be the low point of the season?
Up next: Luckily the easy teams are off the schedule for the next few days. The Giants head to Arizona, where it’ll be Logan Webb (7-5, 2.52 ERA) against Ryne Nelson (4-2, 3.71 ERA). First pitch at 6:40 pm.
