Over the last few days I've gotten the same text over and over again.
It's a short message, only two words. Two first names, even. Two legends mashed together to create a baseball superstar unlike any we've ever seen.
Babe Wilmer.
The man has four hits this year and three of them have left the yard. He didn't outwardly call his shot Monday night, but we can only assume he was thinking three-run homer with two outs and two runners on.
As most of you know by now, it's been 21 years since the Giants had anyone hit 30 homers. It’s a ridiculous drought. Wilmer Flores certainly won't break it—right? He's on pace for 122. No.
That's the beauty of a season four games old. The results are magnified, the nicknames stick easily.
Long live Babe Wilmer.
Up next: Logan Webb makes his second start of the year, squaring off with Hayden Wesneski at 5:10 pm.
