If Friday and Saturday were about what could've been, Sunday was about what could be.
Five months from now, after the World Series ends and free agency begins, the spotlight will shine on Juan Soto, just like it did Sunday afternoon.
The prodigious 25-year-old mashed 828 feet of home runs on Sunday, including the go-ahead shot in the ninth. He looked every bit like the star and slugger the Giants have sought. He's a free agent to be, and destined to join Bryce Harper, Shohei Ohtani, and Aaron Judge on the Mt. Rushmore of Almost Giants.
Rest assured, Farhan Zaidi's front office will charge hard after Soto. They'll tell him he's Barry Bonds and Willie Mays rolled into one. They'll offer him more than half a billion dollars.
And they'll definitely remind him of what he did on Sunday.
Up next: The Giants begin a six-game road trip against last year’s World Series teams. First up it’ll be the Diamondbacks and Ryne Nelson (3-4, 6.02 ERA) at 6:40 p.m.
