Keep your clothes on
Marlins 4, Giants 3
Ryan Walker was naked on the field Friday night.
Not in a literal sense, but a baseball one. Have you ever been on the diamond without your glove?
I’ve had the same one for at least 15 years. Maybe you’ve had yours for double, or even triple, that time.
You come to know it as well as your own hands. The look, the feel, the fit—everything.
I’ve looked in the pocket of mine a million times, and I have no idea how a ball could get stuck in it. The ball didn’t always go in the glove, but it never got stuck in it.
I have to imagine this was true for Walker until Friday. The Giants former closer speared a comebacker, thought about throwing to second, and then realized he couldn’t throw anything at all.
The ball wedged in his glove, he tossed the whole thing over to Bryce Eldridge for the out. He jogged a few more steps toward first and threw his hands on his head.
Wouldn’t you if you were naked in front of 11,677 people?
