Joc Pederson Comes Home | Rockies 7, Giants 4
Before last night, Joc Pederson hadn't homered in forever. When you're paid to clobber baseballs, waiting two months to hit a home run is the equivalent of waiting forever.
The last time he cleared the fence—June 25!—the Giants were seven games over .500 and sported a 62% chance to reach the postseason.
Now, 56 days later, the Giants' playoff hopes are flatlining on the operating table.
Pederson's disappearing act is emblematic of a stretch in which his team did the same. He took two months between home runs, and still has more than anyone on the team. Oof.
