Thursday was one of those days where I would have loved to be in Farhan Zaidi’s group text.
To see how the Giants leader of six years, desperate to get his team back to the postseason, reacted to an almost unbelievable loss. To understand what it was like to see a player he cut a few days ago join the Dodgers as the Giants were in L.A. To know what he thought as Nick Ahmed hit a back-breaking home run against one of the best relievers in baseball.
I'd like to think he found some humor in an otherwise ridiculous moment. Ahmed hit one home run in 52 games with the Giants this year. Now he's going match that almost immediately with the Dodgers? Against the Giants? In the eighth inning of a tie game?
Good grief.
So what did Zaidi send to his group text in that moment? Probably a bunch of four-letter words. One of them may have been sell.
Up next: The Rockies come to town for four. Are these games important? I don’t know anymore. It’ll be Kyle Harrison (5-4, 3.86 ERA) against Kyle Freeland (2-3, 5.63 ERA) at 7:15 p.m.
