Gut punch | Padres 7, Giants 4
It’s hard to know how to feel after a game like that.
The Giants continued their bizarre domination of Josh Hader, one of the best relief pitchers … ever. They’ve scored nine runs off him in the last month. A spectacular catch-turned-sac-fly is the only reason they didn’t score more.
But the comeback was short-lived—and moral victories don’t draw you any closer in the playoff race. Manny Machado’s walk-off home run set the Giants 6.5 games out, in need of a semi-miraculous revival to get back to October again. Maybe Josh Hader can help.
