Against one of baseball's worst teams, the Giants did what they needed to do over the weekend.
Luis Matos and Heliot Ramos starred in a way Farhan Zaidi has been dreaming about for years. Matos set a record with 17 RBI in his first six games this year, smashing balls into the gap and over the wall. Ramos homered Sunday and has a hit in eight of his 10 starts.
So yes, it was a dream weekend for the Giants and their young outfielders.
Now comes the hard part: Sustaining it against the Not Rockies, like the Phillies. Or the Cubs. Or the Dodgers. Or the Yankees. All on the schedule in the coming weeks, drooling over the Giants' 6-14 record against winning teams.
You can't make the playoffs by only beating the Rockies. That would be a dream.
Up next: The Giants are off today as they head east to play the Pirates and Mets. It’ll be Logan Webb (4-4, 3.03 ERA) against Martín Pérez (1-3, 4.86 ERA) tomorrow at 3:40 p.m.
