Christian Koss has a nose for the RBI
Christian Koss set his feet wide in the batter's box and readied himself for Nick Pivetta's next pitch.
With Jung Hoo Lee planted at third and one out, Koss knew what he needed to do as Pivetta grooved a cutter over the plate. The lanky infielder put a charge into it, blasting it 339 feet into left-center field.
Jackson Merrill made a mad dash to his right. In a full sprint he shot his left arm toward the sky, snatching the ball as it crashed down to Earth at 95.5 mph.
Merrill may have made the grab, but Koss got the better of the moment.
He did what so many other Giants have struggled to do in big moments. Lee glided to home plate easily as the crowd roared to its feet. Koss got a hero's welcome in the dugout, slapping high-fives and exchanging stories about what just happened.
The Giants were finally on the board, cutting the Padres lead to 11-1.
