Consistently inconsistent

For a while, the Giants only hit of the day was a high, soaring fly ball to right field.

J.D. Davis stayed with a slider and shot it up over the right field fence.

It didn't look like the kind of ball that would leave the yard—but it did. And it felt like the kind of break you need to beat an elite pitcher like Dylan Cease.

Alas, it was the Giants’ lone hit until the seventh inning. They drew nine walks but mustered only one hit with a runner in scoring position.

So far, the only consistency is inconsistency.
