Belt's Birthday Bash | Giants 5, Mets 2
Brandon Belt hadn't done a whole lot of anything at work on his birthday, at least until he turned 34 on Wednesday.
There's something very baseball about hitting a home run on your birthday. It's fun. It's notable in a way that scoring a touchdown on your birthday isn't. It's random in that skill doesn't factor in as much as having a birthday between April and October does.
It helps to be skilled, though. Mike Trout has five birthday homers. A-Rod hit six, tied for the record. Brandon Belt had zero hits on his birthday, let alone home runs. Now he has one, and he planted it in the upper deck. He got a PB&J, and the Giants got a win.
