A Run at History | Marlins 3, Giants 0
While the Giants snoozed in Miami, Jameson Taillon had a brush with perfection.
I didn't watch the Giants game Thursday night. Instead I spent the evening at Yankee Stadium, where starter Jameson Taillon carried a perfect game into the eighth. It's the closest I've come to seeing history, and damn if it wasn't cool.
The buzz around the stadium with every two-strike pitch ... the lingering anxiety that it was still a scoreless game ... the brilliant defensive play that accompanies every no-hitter or perfect game. It was one of those experiences that makes you fall in love with baseball all over again.
Want to feel old? Nine days from now is the 10-year anniversary of Matt Cain's perfect game. Three Astros in that starting lineup are still active. Only one Giants is. Who?
