The Giants' defense, as you may have heard, stinks. Let's do some film review from Saturday's 5-3 loss.
In this frame, Joc Pederson gets his first glance at a ball he ran in to catch, only to have it whizz right over his head. So close. Two runs scored on the play.
Here we see Logan Webb making great eye contact with a ball heading toward first base. Unfortunately Webb is about to take a seat on the dirt, and is in no position to catch the errant throw.
And now the Giants are closer to last place than first.

What I’m reading
• Everything to know about USC’s and UCLA’s jarring move to the Big Ten. A college football Super League seems more and more inevitable.
• The beginning of the end is here for Great America, the Bay Area’s Disneyland.
• Spotify went all in on podcasts. It’s yet to pay off.
What I’m eating
• One of the best tacos I’ve ever had, and definitely the best al pastor, courtesy of Taqueria Ramirez. (Instagram / NYT)
• A lamb and beef pita from iSouvlaki. You don’t need the fries in it—but you should always get the fries. Top notch.
• I love macaroni salad. I’ll hear no dissenting opinions.
