A game not worth defending

The worst of the 2022 Giants came to play on Saturday.

With a 6-1 lead against the Tigers, a team not expected to win baseball games, the defense crumbled.

Brandon Crawford made errors on consecutive plays, including a would-be double play through his legs.

Two runs scored on a ball hit over the head of Blake Sabol, a catcher stationed in left field.

The winning run moved to third on a ball through the legs of Joey Bart.

And with no hits after the fifth inning, the Giants set themselves up for another wrenching loss against a wretched team. Then again, maybe it's the Giants who are wretched.
